Explorers (1985) is an imaginative family sci-fi adventure directed by Joe Dante and starring young Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix in one of his earliest roles. Packed with Spielberg-style wonder, homemade inventions, and a sense of childhood adventure, it's a charming cult favourite. While the ending divides opinion, its heart, humour, and nostalgic 80s magic make it well worth revisiting.
